Budugallena Temple New Building

Budugallena is an ancient Sri Lankan temple located near Buttala, Sri Lanka. Close to 30-40 monks live and meditate in the temple premises and in the wilderness surrounding the property.

Each of these monks inhibits tiny rock caves (referred to as ‘Kuitya’) within the premises and only come out during meal times. Late Mr. RM Appuhamy, the father-in-law of UHE Group Chairman was a leading donor (‘Dayakaya’) of this temple who supported the monks residing in this temple in numerous ways.

Taking up after his example, the UHE Foundation volunteered to sponsor the construction of the ‘Damma Shala’ or the dining hall cum a gathering hall where monks gathered to listen to sermons. This has been a long awaited necessity for the temple, which is currently under construction and will be completed soon.
