30 May Partnering the Ella ‘Pindapatha’ Alms Giving Programme
Ella ‘Pindapatha’ alms giving programme is organized by the Divisional secretariat of Ella region, in aid of the Buddhist monks taking residence in the Ella monastery (known as ‘Pirivena – a school for monks).
The monastery is solely funded by the charitable contributions of the villagers and well-wishers and thus the young monk apprentices at this monastery are faced with many day to day financial difficulties – so much so, that they even find it difficult to source basic educational items and equipment required to continue their studies.
Having recognised the plight of these young monks, who have dedicated their lives for the sake of the Buddhist Sasana; the UHE foundation came forward to partner the Ella ‘Pindapatha’ programme by providing stationery packs for 25 monks residing in the monastery. The gift packs included educational essentials such as A4 paper, An English Dictionary, mathematical instrument set and other stationery items such as pens, pencils etc.
